The 2024 INPS Central Chapter Native Plant Sale is set for Saturday, May 11th at the Reisch Pavilion (AKA Food-A-Rama) on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. You can expect a great diversity of native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants will be offered to help you create habitat at home. Multiple milkweed species will be offered as well as a great selection of plants for pollinators and wildlife. The plants are grown from local seed sources whenever available by chapter members and local nurseries.
If this is your first time attending, plan on arriving early. Quantities are limited and many popular species sell out quickly!
Proceeds from the sale support the chapter’s grant program. Grants fund a variety of native plant projects completed by local organizations, schools, graduate students, and more. To find out how your project can benefit from an INPS grant, see https://createasubdomain.illinoisplants.org/central-chapter-grant-info/.
If you would like to volunteer at the sale or help with any of the preparations, propagation, or advertising or simply have questions about the sale, please contact sale chair Mary Ring at 217-243-6055 or mcring83@gmail.com.

What is special about these native plants we sell to our community? Most of them are lovingly grown and nurtured so when they come home with you, they have healthy root and foliage growth and when planted immediately, may successfully flourish and provide years of enjoyment to your home.

Many of our plants have local provenance, meaning the plants contain indigenous genetic variation. They have been grown and sourced in Central Illinois which makes them naturally adapted to local environmental conditions. When added into our yards, they enrich biodiversity and in turn enhance the quality of our environment to the benefit of our health and spirit.

Purchasing these plants invests in you – Our Community! This event is our primary fundraiser of the year, it provides funds for the grants we award to individuals and groups that are creating special landscapes with native plants, as well as organizations working to preserve native habitats in central Illinois. Thousands of dollars seed worthwhile projects each year so Thank You for your generous support of our plant sale and visit the Grant Program information on our website to learn more.
